Quality management
SFIA 3: Definition
The management of, or provision of advice on, the application of appropriate quality and/or environmental management and process improvement techniques to any aspect of a function or process. The achievement of, and maintenance of compliance to, national and international standards, as appropriate.
Proposed for SFIA 4.0:
The application of appropriate techniques for monitoring and improvement of quality, to any aspect of a function or process. The achievement of, and maintenance of compliance to, national and international standards, as appropriate.
Thus the specific skill would be "The ability to apply appropriate quality and/or environmental management and process improvement techniques to any aspect of a function or process. The achievement of, and maintenance of compliance to, national and international standards, as appropriate."
However, it's far too broad. Quality, environmental management and process improvement are three different areas of skill and I doubt that most, eg TQM blackbelts, know much about environmental impacts. And many process improvement people know little (too little) about quality.
So this should be split three ways and the middle one probably excluded as having little to do with IT.
Process improvement skills require separate study.
What's left would be "The ability to apply quality improvement techniques to any aspect of a function or process. The achievement of, and maintenance of compliance to, national and international standards, as appropriate."
Given this narrow and practical focus it should be renamed 'Quality improvement'.
