SFIA 3: Definition

The planning, design, management, execution and reporting of tests, using appropriate testing tools and techniques and conforming to agreed standards, to ensure that new and amended systems, together with any interfaces, perform as specified.

Proposed for SFIA 4.0:

Within our organisation, we have a TEST role which is responsible for setting the strategic path of Testing across the company; responsible for leading a central team of Test Specialists and matrix managing the remainder of the Testing Community to develop Testing Policy and Processes that will be followed by the company.

Automated testing

As far as I can tell, there is nothing stopping this skill being applied to those working specifically with automated testing, apart from something like performance testing - see comment on "non-functional testing" within level 4.
